Our story

The story behind The Rocking Felter

01 How it started

A passionate hobby that became a business.

I was in full-time employment until I had my first child. Maternity leave gave me the opportunity and time to explore my creative side, and I slowly learnt the art of turning unspun wool into all sorts of miniature animals and brooches.

After I had my second child I decided to explore this art further and turn it into a business. The shop opened in 2017, and The Rocking Felter is now a proud winner of the SBS award chosen by Theo Paphitis.

02 Where & how it’s made

By hand, one prod at a time, in England

Needle-felting is time consuming, but I find it a very therapeutic and enjoyable form of art. It takes a lot of patience and imagination.

  1. Wool. Every piece starts as soft, unspun wool.
  2. Prod. The wool is prodded with a barbed needle hundreds of times until the shape forms.
  3. Detail. Faces, markings and tiny finishing touches are added by hand, so every piece is one of a kind.
  4. Send. Finished pieces travel to you with Royal Mail tracked service.

03 What makes it special

What every piece is made for

Bringing a smile

My aim is to create items which bring cheer and a smile to the person who receives them.

One of a kind

High-quality pieces, each shaped by hand from wool, so no two are ever exactly alike.
